THE DAYS OF GERMANY IN SKOROHOD / INSOMNIA
For two days and one night the platform hosted the contemporary puppet theatre.
The show-journey based on the paintings by René Magritte “The silence of the world” will take palce at Skorohod Platform. It is the careful way of searching for the answer to the question: what exactly is in the paintings of the famous surrealist and what is hidden behind them. In this production the actors demonstrate the artwork of the grotesque pantomime and the collage of live sound created by Daniel Williams translates the painted world into the theatre language, which leaves the audience with enough freedom to use their imagination.

FREAKSHOW – the project of the German puppet theatre company FREAKS UND FREMDE
Creating their freak-show Sabine Köhler and Heiki Ikkola found the inspiration in the travelling puppet theaters and horror shows. For one hour the actors take the audience to the fantasy world of freak of nature and marvels. Over and over again with the help of the most different costumes and masks they turn into bizarre phantasmagoric characters and shocking panopticon of surreal creatures.
Jan Švankmajer. The masterpieces of philosophical horror.
The films of the Czech director are the magical laboratory where people are compared to puppets and puppets to people, and the director himself charmed by the legends about the magicians and alchemists, as if desperately trying to bring to life again and again the Czech story of Golem: according to the legend it is the puppet that the puppet maker put the soul into, but paid the big price for his “joke” as his creation became evil and started to dictate its own rules.
“The Third” Show
The collaboration of Alexander Lubashin and Tatiyana Priyatkina-Weinstein is an incredibly funny and kind show about girls and boys and… the thirds. Do we have just a physiological identity or something bigger than that? The show is based on the real story of Austrian dancer and actor, Paul Zivkovich. Born as a third twin (after the sister and the brother) he can`t identify himself not only in the physiological sense, but also in gender.
Around the shows
Entertainment DANCEOKE – dancing karaoke that has become a signature of the nights spent in Skorohod.
On Sunday night in Skorohod the premiere of the family show “The duck, the tulip and the death” based on the book of the same name by Wolfgang Elbruch, the famous German painter-illustrator and children`s books author that defines his book as “the story for the people of five years of age”. Speaking the language those children can understand the actors very carefully open up the sad subject of the life having the end, its eternal proximity with death. The plot twists are funny at times. The adaptation is amazingly light, but at the same time it doesn`t belittle the significance of the subject and doesn`t turn into simple entertainment. The ending, which is the death of the Duck, is known from the beginning, but you mind is taken off this thought, and at the same time you never forget about it for a second.
